A Family Perspective...Today’s gospel teaches: “Whoever loves his life, loses it.” Letting go and death to self are keys to successful relationships. If we hold-onto another too tightly, we smother them. Unless we die to ourselves, we use others for our needs. Hear Jesus today: “If the grain of wheat dies, there is much fruit.” Family life and relationships require sacrifice.

Stewardship Message..."If anyone would serve me," says Jesus in today’s Gospel, "Let him follow me; where I am, there will my servant be." In what way is Jesus inviting me to follow Him? What service is He asking of Me?

Archbishop Mansell has encouraged parishes to cooperate in the scheduling of masses and liturgical services to help ease pressure caused by the shortage of priests. Liturgy Environment All through today’s Gospel, we hear reference to the “hour “ of Jesus. Now the time is fulfilled. Jesus is the “grain of wheat’ that can only bear fruit if it “dies.” Jesus prays with great honesty: “I am troubled now, yet what should I say? Father, save me from this hour? But it was for this purpose that I came to this hour.” Jesus is afraid, but he never stops trusting in the Father. He is the profound example for us, as well, to always trust in our heavenly Father who, through the Son, brings us from death to life as we celebrate the Resurrection of the Lord.
