Sister Kristen, a Sister of St. Joseph, prepares more than 415 after school meals each day for the children in the Hartford area who would otherwise go home hungry. In addition to the 250 lunches that were delivered to Sister Kristen, a large quantity of snacks were also donated by the students each week of Lent as part of their Lenten almsgiving project. Rice and $60.00 was also collected to support the Kids’ Café. Thank you again to the Confirmation candidates, their families, The Beers Family, The Cravero Family, The DiFiore Family, The Marinelli Family, The Zaino Family, The
Kieselback Family for delivering the items, and to Fr. Lonergan and Fr. Moran for administering the Sacrament of Reconciliation to the children. Thank you to Noranne Wamester for her support with this outreach endeavor. We received a lovely thank you from Sister Kristin Johnsen for supporting Kids Café.

A Family Perspective...Notice Jesus came into a house and said, “Peace be with you.”
Peace is not measured only by the noise levels in our home; it also depends on the levels of
trust, acceptance, forgiveness and respect for one another.
Stewardship Message...The Christian community described in Acts understood and practiced
total stewardship. St. Paul reports that the believers did not claim anything as their
own, but held everything in common, and distributed to each whatever was needed.

Archbishop Henry J. Mansell will celebrate the inaugural Blue Mass on Sunday, May
17th at 11am in the Cathedral of St. Joseph in Hartford. This is a historic event which
dates back to 1934, when over 1,000 police and fire personnel packed Saint Patrick’s
Catholic Church in Washington, D.C. for the special occasion. While the Blue Mass has
been a long standing tradition in some parts of the country, it was not until the horrific
events of September 11, 2001, that the celebration of such Masses spread throughout the
communities of the United States. The Blue Mass is a way to come together as the People
of God to honor and recognize the sacrifice of police, firefighters, and other safety personnel,
and to remember those who have given their lives in service to our communities.
