Due to the pandemic, Archdiocesan protocols prohibit all literature distribution. Parishes are expected to be in compliance with all protocols set by the Archdiocese of Hartford. Therefore the yearly Incarnation parish calendars will not be available at this time, but may be available in the future as circumstances improve. Also, due to circumstances precipitated by the pandemic we will be postponing booking the masses for the year 2022. More information will follow in the future.

“We lift our hearts to the Lord.”

Psalm 23

How beautiful and appropriate to bring the liturgical year to a close with this beloved Psalm! One preacher made the observation that millions of people have memorized this psalm; it has been the subject of countless funeral prayer cards; it has been a source of comfort through severe personal trials, illness, and the dying process; and for some, it would be the last words they would ever say as they passed into eternity.

So many words come to mind as one reflects upon the words of Psalm 23 with respect to one’s relationship with God: protection, providence, trust, dependence, restoration, abundance, watchfulness, assurance. We walk with the Lord as He shepherds us. There is nothing that we fear.

King David, who may have written this song and was perhaps inspired by his youthful days as a shepherd, tells us that to have God as our Shepherd is to have everything we want. He who is all-knowing, all-powerful and all-caring, is enough. With Him we need nothing more.

The King of Love my Shepherd is and He is mine forever.
